As another best friend to Harry and Ron, Hermione serves as an epitome of feminity--- logical, observant, studious, clever, caring, nurturing, sensitive, and more mature than the other two but also bossy, nagging, stubborn, hard to understand, easily swept by good looks, possibly slightly weaker in braveness, and prone to emotional outbursts. Hermione's personality is quite diverse and multi-faceted, but her loyalty and helpfulness still keeps Harry and Ron her closest friends.

This is one of the many times when Hermione acts extremely lofty, especially towards Ron. Why? Because Mr. I'll-Go-Out-With-the-Best-Looking-Girl-Who'll-Have-Me,-Even-If-She's-Completely-Horrible, has just been rejected by someone. Ha! Serves him right.
